Man Steals Girlfriend's Rs. 2 Million Gold After Losing Online Bet

 A young man who stole his girlfriend's gold jewelry worth approximately Rs. 2 million to pay the winner after losing an online betting game played via mobile phone, and the person who purchased the stolen items, have been arrested by Horana Police.



Those arrested are a 22-year-old youth residing in the Godakawela area and a 63-year-old gold craftsman. 


Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect youth was in a relationship with a young woman from the Kananwila area of Horana and frequently visited her home.

These investigations commenced following a complaint made to Horana Police by the young woman's father, stating that gold jewelry worth over Rs. 2 million had gone missing from the house. During questioning of the complainant regarding individuals who frequently visited the house, information about his daughter's boyfriend came to light. Subsequent further investigations confirmed that he had committed the theft.

During questioning of the suspect, it was revealed that the stolen gold items had been pawned at several pawn centers located in the Godakawela and Horana areas to obtain money. Police stated that the stolen gold items included a necklace, earrings, a bracelet, rings, and pendants.
