25-Year-Old Sri Lankan Arrested for Verbally Abusing US Embassy Officials Over the Phone

 A 25-year-old Sri Lankan youth, who is studying at a university in America, has been arrested by the Kollupitiya Police in connection with an incident where he verbally abused and threatened officials of the American Embassy in Colombo over the phone.

A security officer of the American Embassy had lodged a complaint with the police regarding this matter, and a senior police officer stated that the suspect was arrested based on information revealed during investigations conducted using the phone number from which the threatening calls were made.

The arrested suspect is a resident of Kadawatha area and is a student pursuing a degree in psychology at an American university. Police state that he returned to the island on December 03rd after being abroad. Initial police investigations have also revealed that this young man has been receiving treatment for a certain medical condition for some time.
