Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, as a special envoy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with a high-level delegation, has arrived in the island for an official visit.
This visit by the Indian Foreign Minister is primarily aimed at further reaffirming the Indian government's support to Sri Lanka, which was affected by Cyclone 'Ditwa'.During his visit, the Indian External Affairs Minister is scheduled to hold special discussions with the President and other high-level representatives of the state. He is scheduled to meet the President the day after arriving in the island, and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs states that he is ready to hand over a special message sent by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the President.
During this meeting, a wide range of areas of mutual cooperation, including strengthening economic ties between the two countries, are scheduled to be discussed at length. Furthermore, the President is also scheduled to convey the gratitude of the Sri Lankan people and the government to the Indian External Affairs Minister for the support India has provided as a neighboring state during this difficult time.
