Providing direct support to the government's extensive program for rebuilding infrastructure in disaster-affected areas, a special Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft arrived on the island this afternoon (04). The arrival of this aircraft, carrying essential Bailey bridge components and an expert crew, is considered a significant boost to accelerate reconstruction efforts in the affected regions.

Among the aid brought, Bailey bridge components that can be assembled and used according to emergency operational needs, along with related construction materials, are prominent.

Notably, the consignment also includes a 110-foot-long double-lane (double-lane) Bailey bridge system that can be rapidly deployed in areas where road connectivity has been disrupted due to disaster situations. Additionally, India has provided five dinghy boats at this time, which can be used for search operations, life-saving, and transportation in flood and landslide-prone areas.

A team of 25 experts, comprising 20 engineers specially trained in rapid bridge construction and 5 medical officers, also arrived on the island aboard the same aircraft to provide technical assistance. This team is scheduled to carry out future operations in collaboration with local engineers and emergency relief teams. India's continuous support in providing food, medicine, and infrastructure development for the affected Sri Lankan people during this difficult time is highly appreciated in Sri Lanka.
