A complaint has been lodged with the Narahenpita Police against a Member of Parliament representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, who allegedly forcibly entered the car of a married woman parked near a fitness center in the Narahenpita area.
The incident was reported on the 17th, and the woman who filed the complaint is an executive-level employee at a private company located in an area close to Colombo. When she arrived at the fitness center and was seated in the driver's seat of her car, the said Member of Parliament approached, tapped on the car window, and stated that he wished to speak with her.
Despite her request that she had no desire to speak with him and asked him to leave without bothering her, the MP disregarded her plea, opened the car door, and forcibly sat inside the vehicle. The woman stated to the police that she was severely traumatized by this unexpected incident. When the MP asked, "Why aren't you talking to me?", she again urged him to get out of the car and leave her alone. Finally, yielding to her strong insistence, the MP got out of the car and left.
The complainant stated that she knows the MP because her child and the MP's children attend the same school. She further revealed to the police that the MP had called her mobile phone on several previous occasions, and she had blocked those numbers. When he subsequently called from other numbers, she blocked those as well. She has requested the police to summon the MP and issue a strong warning to prevent any further harassment or inconvenience to her. The Narahenpita Police, investigating the incident, have arranged to summon both the Member of Parliament and the complainant to the police station for an inquiry into the complaint.
