Ashoka Ranwala Granted Bail

 

Gampaha District Member of Parliament and former Speaker Ashoka Ranwala, who was arrested in connection with a road accident in the Sapugaskanda area, has been granted bail by the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court.

The MP was arrested by the police this afternoon (12) while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital following the said road accident.

The accident occurred yesterday (11) evening when the jeep driven by the MP, who is also the chief organizer for the Biyagama electorate of the National People's Power, collided with a car driven by a woman and a motorcycle.

The MP also sustained injuries in the accident, and two women and a small child traveling in the car were also injured and hospitalized.
