—Recovered Thanks to Quick Action by Thai Authorities
In an incident that could have ended in panic, Lihasha Lindsey-White, the newly crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2025, momentarily lost her most prized possession—her crown—after mistakenly leaving it behind in a taxi in Bangkok. The event unfolded on Sunday, October 19, but thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of Thai authorities, the crown, along with a signature green gown, was safely returned the following day.
Lihasha, who is currently in Thailand preparing to represent Sri Lanka at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in November, had been traveling in the Siam Center Point area of Bangkok when the oversight occurred. Upon realizing that her crown and gown were missing, she immediately reported the incident to Thailand’s Tourist Assistance Call Center (1155).
With the help of a translator, she also lodged a formal complaint with local authorities at the Pathumwan Police Station. Investigators quickly swung into action, using CCTV footage to identify the specific taxi and its driver. However, because the report was made during the weekend, the taxi cooperative office was closed, delaying immediate contact with the driver.
Despite the delay, the effort paid off. On October 20, the taxi driver returned the forgotten items to the Southern Bangkok Tourist Police Station, where they were safely handed back to Lihasha.
Reflecting on the experience, Lihasha expressed deep gratitude to the Thai police, saying, "Thailand is truly a safe country with incredibly considerate police officers who care about tourists." She also shared that she hopes to spread the word about this positive experience globally.
This is Lihasha’s first time representing Sri Lanka on the international beauty stage. A recent graduate of Colombo International School (CIS), she claimed the Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2025 title at a glamorous
