Tragic Plane Crash in Alaska Claims 10 Lives

A small commuter plane, operated by Bering Air, crashed in western Alaska on Thursday, claiming the lives of all 10 people aboard. The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan was en route from Unalakleet to Nome, carrying nine passengers and a pilot, when it lost contact with air traffic control less than an hour after takeoff.

Search efforts intensified as the US Coast Guard located the wreckage floating on sea ice about 19 kilometers from the Alaskan coast in Norton Sound. The plane had experienced a rapid loss in elevation and speed, according to radar data, but the cause remains unclear, as no distress signals were sent.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash, marking it as the third major aviation disaster in the US within eight days. The crash has left the tight-knit community in shock, with local residents and government agencies offering their condolences and support.
