Three killed in Illegal Alcohol trade Dispute

A murder involving sharp weapons has been reported on the night of February 2 in the Aleegoda Western area of Ambalantota, following a dispute related to illegal alcohol trade.

According to police reports, the attack, which occurred around 8:00 PM, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, identified as Ruwan, Nuwan, and Podi, aged 29, 34, and 45, respectively, from the Aleegoda Mamadala area.

Investigative reports indicate that a group of six individuals entered the house where the victims were staying and launched the attack. One individual died at the scene, while the other two succumbed to serious injuries after being admitted to the Ambalantota hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the Ambalantota Police revealed that the main cause of the murders was an ongoing dispute between the two parties related to illegal alcohol (Kasippu) trade. This long-standing conflict eventually escalated, leading to this brutal incident.

A police spokesperson stated that the suspects involved in the incident have already been identified, and a special police operation has been initiated to arrest them.

The Ambalantota Police have launched an extensive investigation into the matter and have also planned special operations to curb illegal alcohol trade in the area.
