This unique exhibition offers a stunning collection of photographs that showcase the beauty, elegance, and power of the Sri Lankan Leopard. From breathtaking portraits to intimate glimpses of its natural behavior and habitat, Leopard Tales 2.0 aims to raise awareness about the critical need for the conservation of this endangered predator.
The Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya), a subspecies native to the island, was first described in 1956 by Sri Lankan zoologist Deraniyagala. The species has been listed as Endangered by the IUCN Red List since 2008, with an estimated wild population of only 700–950 individuals as of 2015. Known for its distinctive tawny coat with dark spots and rosettes, the Sri Lankan Leopard stands out among its cousins. This apex predator, often weighing up to 220 lb (100 kg) for large males, faces no competition from other large wild cats in Sri Lanka, allowing it to evolve into one of the largest leopard subspecies.
Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the majestic world of the Sri Lankan Leopard and support its ongoing conservation efforts.
