Extension of travel restrictions to 27 or 30 is considered over the weekend

Although the travel restrictions are due to be lifted on the 21st, various rumours will be extended further. There are speculations that the reopening of the country could increase the risk, especially given the persistent corona epidemic and the persistence of statistical figures.

Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Mass Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella said today that a few more days are needed to analyze the current situation and decide whether or not to remove the travel restrictions.
Accordingly, it is proposed to maintain the travel restrictions in the same manner for another 27 days until the 27th of next month or until the end of this month.
He told a media briefing at the Government Information Department today (15) that a favourable decision would be taken if there is a positive response to the Corona epidemic in the coming days.
Cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said the decision would be taken next weekend, on the 19th or 20th.
