The basis on which Jayasuriya received the vaccine is being questioned
Former cricketer, Sanath Jayasuriya's use of the COVID19 vaccine over the past 18 days and its publication has been the subject of criticism on social media. Some have questioned the criteria by which vaccinators are selected. When the government launched the public vaccination program early last week, health officials said they would prioritize vulnerable groups, the elderly and those in regular contact with the public, but that priority is now problematic.
Retired cricketer Jayasuriya, a former Member of Parliament, did not belong to any leading groups. Criticisms have surfaced on social media that the vaccination program is highly politicized. Facebook and Twitter users have questioned the basis on which Sanath Jayasuriya was given the Kovid vaccine. Some have said that even though the airport was closed due to the first wave of Kovid, these things have happened in the same way that people with high connections in the government came to this country. The Kovid vaccine is a free donation from India and has been described by some as a misuse of the donation.
