Whereabouts of corona infected Mr. Ranasingha of Maththegoda ... unknown!

The first identified corona infected Sri Lankan who at present is undergoing treatment at Infectious diseases hospital is a father of two named Jayantha Ranasingha from Maththegoda and he had toured Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Kandy covering some hotels during the past few days in those areas in the company of foreigners and it was further revealed that and not his latest tour, but even in the previous tour an Italian who was suspected as corona infected was present in that previous tour and that this Italian on returning to Italy had passed away on his return to Italy about which
information is being searched for, it is reported. 

The government yesterday exposed some information only in an official manner about the first Sri Lankan who was identified in this country as being infected by the new corona virus. However the tourist guide association of which he is a member has issued an SMS to their members requesting them to have an examination done if they maintained any relationship with him and as a result further information was revealed to the social media. 

This way, an infected person was found inside Sri Lanka after 71 days since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan in China. Mr. Jayantha who happened to be an Italian speaking guide ... has conducted his first tour in Dambulla, Peradeniya, Dickwella and Kandy, it was learned. He has in fact visited a police station in Colombo district twice to get a document of permission to admit his vehicle to Katunayaka airport. For the last time he has engaged in guiding last 3rd for four Italian nationals who were on a tour here. He had taken lodging during the period 3rd to 8th at several hotels in Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Kandy which places they had toured. Mr. Jayantha Ranasingha who dropped the four Italians at Katunayaka airport has subsequently returned to his home at Maththegoda. 

Mr. Jayantha, a father of two and 52 years of age was hospitalised in an ailing condition last 9th. What is stated in an SMS sent to other members of the drivers' tour guide association where Mr. Jayantha Ranasingha held membership was that if had taken lodging at hotels where Mr. Jayantha and Italian nationals took refuge ... to hasten themselves to a medical test. 

52 year old Jayantha Ranasingha resides in a house in Maththegoda area. Government authorities have now taken steps to subject members of his family to a quarantine process from the home itself. By now a wide-scale search has been launched about places where he toured as well as locations where Italian nationals toured as well. He had in fact been working in Italy for sometime and had later come to this country armed with a competent knowledge of the Italian language and then has begun to function as a guide. He had been engaged as as a free tour guide by connecting himself with several companies bringing foreigners to this country. 

During the period February 25th to March 2nd, when he was engaged in his first tour covering Dambulla, Peradeniya, Dickwella and Kandy; one Italian has fallen sick and that person has gone back to Italy in that condition; information was revealed and 3 corona deaths were reported in the area where he stayed. Investigations are underway to determine whether this person was among the dead. It is suspected that to a large extent Mr. Jayantha was infected by him.
