Jem merchant of Mt. Lavinia who contacted corona and then made a getaway with wife when asked to admit

A lengthy description was reported today of a corona infected gem merchant who evaded going to Angoda hospital, playing a risky game with his own life as well as that of the public in the country. This by-passing story was revealed by director general of health Dr. Anil Jasingha talking about the 11th Sri Lankan who was confirmed last evening (15th Sunday) as being infected ... while bringing the message not to engage in risky behaviour.

This 45 year old corona infected person reported yesterday 15th was in fact a        friend of a Sri Lankan who had toured Germany and had accompanied him. These two who are involved in marketing gems and allied businesses had toured            European countries including Germany and Austria had displayed signs of the        disease and one of them had admitted himself to Angoda hospital and on 12th it    was confirmed that he had contacted corona. On talking about his other friend      with whom he joined on the tour passed on the relevant 

                     numbers to the doctors and hospital authorities conducted a search about the gem businessman and had summoned him to be present for a medical examination. He too then came to know that his friend too has got the virus and he himself has shown similar signs of the virus; but has not gone to Angoda hospital. He had with his wife gone to meet a private doctor and after diagnosis they were advised to visit Angoda hospital for a corona test. However instead of doing so he had visited a lung clinic in Borella and later gone to a private hospital in Colombo and given samples for a PCR t

Though permission has not been granted to private hospitals for corona tests at present, that hospital has said that 3 days would elapse for the results as they are to receive cash in turn and has welcomed him. During this period government officials have on a number of occasions come to Angoda and had asked him to have tests conducted. However he has failed to do so. 

What Dr. Anil Jasingha said was that when there was no response from this person's phone, only the wife had responded and later on she too had avoided answering. Subsequently, officers of the special task force have visited his home at Mt. Lavinia and follow it up with examinations by bringing him. However that too he has avoided, it is learned. This person, without admitting himself to a government hospital had instead remained indoors and when faced with a serious health condition thereafter was admitted to Kalubowila hospital. Doctors of Kalubowila hospital who realised the situation he was then immediately transferred him to Angoda hospital by ambulance. After the corona test he has become positive yesterday (15). Thus,at present he is under treatment at Angoda hospital. 

What Dr. Anil Jasingha remarked was that it is difficult to understand how he had being in the open when aware of so many factors to prove that he was a corona patient and has kept on subjecting lives of his intimate companions and the public. Senior deputy inspector general of police Mr. Ajith Rohana spoke on behalf of police and said that legal action would be taken against this particular patient who covered up necessary information and his wife.
