Media operation searching for whereabouts of Swiss visa officer

Various forms of information has been revealed by electronic media about the visa officer of Swiss consulate office who has caused a big uproar these days. Among such media it is two particular private TV channels who take the lead.

When the said officer gave her statement to the CID and was leaving the premises, the media took special interest to cover this instance when it was observed that she was coming out covering her face
with a piece of cloth when the media had been taking much interest to reveal her countenance. In the same way an attempt to interrogate too had been in vain when some representative had appeared on the scene and had said that she would be holding a press briefing the following day and had given an address at Barnes Place. But it was revealed yesterday that it was something done with the intention of misleading the media.

Though media correspondents did approach the address given, it was noticed that there had been no media meeting there and that the address given was that of someone else. In the meantime one TV channel has pursued an address across the vehicle number of the person who provided that clue and what was then revealed was that it was a Kelaniya address of a former UNP organiser. Saying that the visa officer was the daughter in law of the Kelaniya stalwart and subsequently a search was launched for further information concerning the visa officer.

In the meantime what was published in yet another newspaper was that this visa officer was a Sinhalese Buddhist who had changed her name into a Tamil. This media further says that the Swiss consulate has fled the country and that an acting officer has been appointed in place. It is clear that the motive of the media operation is to file evidence to give an indication that the consulate visa officer had engaged in a false role of acting.

In the process the prohibition issued restricting this visa officer in leaving the country has been extended by courts and she has for the third day come to the CID and given a statement.
