Champika Ranawaka bailed out
Member of parliament Patali Champika Ranawaka who has been sent to remand prison after being arrested in connection with an accident was bailed out this afternoon (24) by court. After having been produced before Colombo additional magistrate, Kanchana Neranjani Silva, the MP the magistrate has ordered that he be bailed out on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two bails of Rs. 5 lakhs each. It was
said that he appears in the presence of Colombo Crime Division on last Sunday of every month. He was warned not to make any influence on those who testify on plaintiff's side.
The former minister, member of parliament, Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka who was remanded had not requested for nothing other than a mattress to sleep on at remand prison 'M' ward, it was understood. It was reported that he had been relaxing by reading books and weekly newspapers and unlike other ministers had not made any request to admit himself to hospital as such.
By now a complaint has been lodged at police headquarters by now that the youth Sandeep Sampath too be penalised by law in the same way that former minister Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka was taken into custody in connection with the said accident on charges of having ridden a motor cycle which was prohibited to be ridden on the road and for having caused damage to property.
