In the instance that the case filed against Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in appeal courts with regard to Sri Lankan citizenship turns in his disfavour for some reason, instead of the candidate of Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna, Mr. Gotabhaya, attention of the Peramuna has been directed towards arranging for an alternate candidate for the forthcoming presidential election,

In the above respect, an abrupt discussion of party leaders has been called for this afternoon (30), opposition news has reported. Close news sources of Podu Jana Peramuna however reports that there is no issue pertaining to the relevant documents. Whatever it is, it is understood that the rivals have been strategical enough to bring the law to the forefront and the case would open up on the 2nd and if an interim order is secured on the 3rd, it would be an obstacle for Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to come forward as a presidential candidate. As a consequence, a hasty call for discussion has been launched well in advance as a party. 

Among names nominated so far as alternate candidates it is former speaker Chamal Rajapaksa who is at the forefront as reported by the media network closest to Wimal Weeravansha. In the meantime, what close associates of Mahinda Rajapaksa say is that Shiranthi Rajapaksa's nmame too has been nominated as an alternative. In the meantime, the name of Mr. Ajith Nivad Cabraal, former head of Central Bank too has been proposed in this connection, it is reported.
