Hidden first in scholarship exam ... in the company of opposition leader Mahinda

Government has decided not to reveal identities of students who have secured first, second, third positions at this time's grade 5 scholarship examination. The reason for it is to prevent the competition mentality creeping into the minds of the small children unnecessarily. Under these circumstances it was decided by the president and minister of education to scrap off this scholarship exam. Whatever it is, what was decided finally was that those who wish to ... could come forward for
the scholarship exam and sit for the 5 scholarship from next year.

Though it was not publicised who achieved first position from the scholarship exam this time in 2019, it was student Adeesha Nethum of Galgomuwa Sirimavo Bandaranaike  Vidyalaya who had achieved 199 marks that was highlighted not by the education department but across information provided by the media across provincial correspondents as usual.

However, violating the precept of keeping it a secret, though it was an instance where publicising this was a violation of ethics, nobody cared to focus upon it as an issue by thinking that it is a duty to value and appreciate the student's skills being. On the other hand, making use of this ethical prohibition, certain pages in the facebook published fake posts by depicting incorrect images as 'first from the South ... first from the North'.

Whatever it is, though the first 10 had the opportunity of meeting the president as before, it was not mentioned in any media whether a chance to travel overseas was given. In the meantime, reports were published that Galgomuwe Adeesha Nethum who is supposed to have clinched first position this time had come with his parents and met opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and posed for a photograph. That photo and description sent by Nikaweratiya correspondent to newspapers is seen below
