Husband commits suicide because wife left home and also poisons and kills the two children! 

An incident was reported where a father in Anamduwa area has after a family dispute had given poison to his two children and had himself committed suicide thereafter. 

There had been some clash between husband and wife in the house for some time and from about a month back the deceased husband's wife has left residing in the house, it was revealed at investigations. His two sons were poisoned in this house situated in Udappuwa, Palliwasalpaduwa,
Konthantiv yesterday (25) and subsequently he himself has put an end to his life by hanging in the house. 

Those who died this way are Warnakulsooriya Asanka Sanath, a father aged 31 years living in Udappuwa, Konthanthiv Pallia Wasala and his two sons William Masew aged 9 years and Eron Minirod aged 6 years; both schoolgoing. Before committing suicide by hanging from a beam in the house, Asanka Sanath has made the children drink poison, police believe. Some beverage mixed with poison was found at the spot. Neighbours having noticed this incident have informed police after which on their arrival there have had the two children admitted to Puttalam hospital for treatment. However the children had breathed their last, hospital sources say. 

Police suspect that a misunderstanding with the wife has resulted in this tragedy. The two children are attending Kandathoduwa Vidyalaya in the first and third grade and with the friction between mother and father and gone to her parent's home during which period the said incident has taken place. 

This is what neighbours had to say in relation to the incident: "There were conflicts in the house. On the day of the incident a certain person passing the house had sensed some commotion in the house. It was around 12 - 1 in the afternoon and when casually peeping into the house had seen the deceased members and after informing villagers had admitted them to hospital. But by then, what has to happen had happened". 

The magistrate was expected to come to the location for an on the spot inquiry concerning the deaths. A special police team headed by Udappuwa police officer in charge, Mr. Gamini Gunathillaka under instructions of police superintendent of Chilaw Mr. Suramjath Kumarappeli and assistant superintendent of police Mr. Ariyakeerthi Bandara are conducting inquiries regarding the incident.
