Villagers launched a big protest yesterday (28) over the attempt to bury the head of the terrorist Mohommed Nazar Mohommed Azad in Kalliyankadu cemetery and who incidentally launched the suicide bomb attack inside Batticaloa Zion church. As a result due to offences of breakdown of law and order in the area with congestion of traffic, summons were issued on member of parliament, Viyalendran and four others by Batticaloa magistrate court, it is reported. The complaint was made by police to the effect that tyres were burnt
and unruly behaviour which caused an obstruction in Batticaloa - Colombo bus-route.

Though the part of the head of terrorist Mohommed Nazar Mohommed Azad so far remained at Batticaloa hospital mortuary; having heard that activities were underway to bury it in Kalliyankadu cemetery, it then gave rise to this protest. Police had to use tear-gas to disperse the crowd of demonstrators. What police said was that during the process of so dispersing protestors, because of their agitated situation four individuals were injured.

What parliamentarian S. Viyalendran said about this was: "Our people have come to the very spot where the terrorist's death took place and buried him there ... an action taken without any law or agenda. This happened with the knowledge of the police and district secretary. This is a case of betrayal done to our people. The people who buried the terrorist should take it away from here. The charges aimed against me are incorrect. Though I said that parts of the body should be buried ... I have never suggested any particular place as such".
