Job for wife ... other schools for children

Government has decided to offer employment for wife of Mr. Pradeep Udaya Kumara (39) who died from an incident of shooting by an army soldier at Akmeemana Upananda Vidyalaya grounds and to provide other schools to their three children. Apart from this, it was decided to ascertain whether it is possible to provide some compensation to this wife, after perusing police reports.

Kumari (38) of deceased Pradeep Udayakumara who died from gunshot injuries and her three children to parliament some days back. Mr. Wijayapala Hettiarachchi mentioned that he made all of them meet the Prime Minister,minister of defence, Mr. Ruwan Wijayawardena and educational minister, Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam in parliament.

Deceased Mr. Pradeep Kumara's three children are following their education in Akmeemana Upananda Vidyalaya in their 10th, 2nd and 1st grade. Mr. Pradeep Udaya Kumara was subjected to shooting by an army soldier at the time he had gone to bring one of his children from the school. This incident in fact took place last 4th. The said army soldier has been taken into custody and sent to remand prison over this incident. In the meantime, Prime Minister, Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha has instructed acting minister of defence, Mr. Ruwan Wijayawardena yesterday to conduct a formal inquiry and to forward a report.
