10 minor parties join Pohottuwa -- Wimal, Dinesh, Gammanpila keep away

10 accepted political parties not representing parliament have entered into agreements with Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna at opposition leader Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa's official residence at Wijerama Mawatha. General secretary of the party, attorney at law, Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam placed his signature to the agreements. 

Those who entered the agreements with Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna were Hema Kumarage of
Mawbima Janatha party, Karuna Amman's Tamil Eksath Peramuna, Muslim Ulama party, Liberal party, Nawa Sihala Urumaya, Prajathanthrawadi Jathika Vyaparaya, Eksath Lanka Maha Sabhava and Bhoomi Puthra party. Though secretary of Podu Jana Peramuna invited other party leaders of Ekabaddha Vipakshaya, 8 leading parties who were hand in hand Pohottuwa decided to refrain from attending the occasion and thus Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, Jathika Nidahas Peramuna, Lanka Sama Samaja party, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Communist party of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Mahajana party and Prajathanthravadi Vamanshika Peramuna were absent on this occasion. Leaders of those parties give their reason as rejecting going into agreements with separate isolated parties instead of an attempt to build up a wide-scaled alliance by getting together all parties. Whatever it is, those 8 parties have not resigned from Pohottuwa but have sabotaged and expressed their protest in connection with other minor parties.
