Finally an approval for ladies of government service to dress in any modest dress code
The cabinet has approved releasing a fresh circular in connection with the dress code of government servants. The cabinet paper presented by minister of state administration, Mr. Ranjith Madduma Bandara for a fresh dress code for government servants at the cabinet meeting last morning (25) at Presidential secretariat under the patronage of the President, Mr. Maithripala Sirisena has met with approval.
Accordingly, ladies in government service are provided the opportunity of wearing any modest dress
in addition to the sari, osariya; but should refrain from wearing anything that covers the face. This discussion was held in order to solve the problematic situation which resulted from a circular released by ministry of home affairs gave rise to a discrepancy of opinion in respect of the dress code for government servants.
