Young man who called 119 and said that bombs would be exploded at Maligawatta too ... arrested

A Muslim telephone repairman who has called number 119 of police emergency unit by giving false information that three bombs would be exploded at Maligawatta Jumma Masjeed Road was taken into police custody while he was in a house at Keselwatta, Muhandiram Road.

Twenty one mobile SIM cards and four mobile phones were taken into police custody with this suspect. He had given a call to telephone number 119 and said, "I am M,P. who is speaking ... three
bombs will be exploded at Maligawatta Jumma Masjeed Road ... stop it if possible". Maligawatta Police who went into immediate action no sooner the call was received together with the army, bomb disposal unit and police special task force after being summoned removed the public around the road and had closed down shops and boutiques and had thus launched a a special search operation for a period of about six hours -- only a few garbage parcels were found ... Maligawatta Police have informed court. Maligawatta Police have told court that this call of false information was given thus causing displeasure to public and government servants and having taken it into consideration Colombo additional magistrate, Mrs. Kanchana Neranjala de Silva has conducted inquiries and has subsequently issued an order that the suspect be arrested. Accordingly, on court orders, armed with the voice cut of 119 emergency number, the said suspect was taken into custody by Maligawatta Police.
