Muslim doctor apprehended in Kurunegala ... same individual who performed sterility operations?

Police media spokesman's office this morning reported of a Muslim doctor in Kurunegala who earned money in an illicit manner and was thus taken into custody.

This 42 year old doctor by the name of Seigu Siabdeen Mohammed Safi was arrested at his home yesterday (24) at address No. 151/29, Weerasingha Mawatha, Kandy Road, Kurunegala, it was

reported. Information that he is a gynecologist / obstetrician at Kurunegala hospital is confirmed by now, Kurunegala news sources have revealed.

Though suspicion has emerged whether this is the doctor who was exposed by Island newspaper some days back in the form of a hint that he has performed 4000 operations on Sinhala Buddhist mothers, police have not revealed anything to that effect. Police have announced that what that particular newspaper reported is a false one and what police report today in that connection is that the apprehended person is that the money he earned is suspicious. An inquiry in relation to the doctor concerned is underway.
