"Father became serious because of kidney ailment" -- Prathiba

Remains of well-known actor Gamini Hettiaarachchi presently lies at Koswatta Road, Rajagiriya, Nawala residence. At the time of death he was 68 years old and he had been suffering from a kidney problem towards the last stages of his life and he in fact has undergone a kidney transplant. But after that transplant he has undergone various complications, his family members have informed. Daughter of Mr. Gamini Hettiaarachchi, Prathiba Hettiaarachchi whose father of two children has told media that the ailing condition which he was placed in was the result of the kidney
transplant which he underwent a short time before. Under the above circumstances in such a sick condition he was admitted to Colombo national hospital and subsequently passed away yesterday.    

Gamini Hettiaarachchi's daughter, Prathiba incidentally is an up and coming actress. The son on the other hand is someone who maintains a popular DJ music centre. Mr. Gamini Hettiaarachchi who was a past pupil of Colombo Nalanda College had served as a technical officer of railway department. He had initially engaged in drama arts as a past time, later on turned into a professional actor. The role he played as Sunimal, an impetuous character in the tele drama 'Yashorawaya' was something that would remain in the minds of most people. He clinched the Best Actor Award at Sumathi Tele Awards festival for the character he played as a mentally distorted person in the tele drama 'Dadabima'.
