Yoosuf the spices businessman of Dematagoda ... of the JVP? How his copper businessman Imshaf and sons organised hotel attack

Father of copper businessman Imshaf Ahamad and his brother Ilham Ahamad who are supposed to have launched suicide attacks is one businessman dealing in spices named Yoosuf Ibrahim. He is presently under custody. This 65 year old person was a candidate appearing on the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna last general election.

After MP Mr. Wimal Weeravansha revealed it, Mr. Tilvin Silva , secretary of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna released a media announcement stating that though his name appeared in the national list
of the party, further said that he was neither an activist of the party nor a member. He pointed out that though it is true that this individual's name was entered in the national list of the general election of 2015, he said that the national list of the party is nominated in order to give a chance to those who do not compete in an election and to people of various professions and various nationalities.

They had been residing in a three-storied luxury house along Mahavila Road in Dematagoda. Together with Ibrahim, another son of his by the name of Ijaz Ahamad Ibrahim, 30 years of age was taken into police custody.

Spice-dealer Ibrahim was not someone who was with the JVP but also has had close connections with various politicians. He has had dealings with Minister Rishad Badurdeen as well as Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa and photographs are available in web site which show him dealing with them.

When inspecting the Dematagoda house of Yoosuf Ibrahim, there were two explosions there where three police officers lost their lives. Later, a 25 year old woman and two children passed away. Attacks on two of the hotels were launched Yoosuf's eldest son the 33 year old copper businessman, Inshaf Ibrahim and 31 year old Ilham Ahamad Ibrahim. Yoosuf has had 9 children.

The woman and two children who died from the second explosion are the wife and two children of copper businessman living in Dematagoda house, it was revealed. It was  not that they exploded the bombs because police arrived on the scene ... initial formation revealed that both these bombs were set off by a remote control device after placing explosives inside the house for fear that evidence would be exposed by someone.

Spice businessman Yoosuf Ibrahim's son, Inshad Ahamad has been living in Kandy. He has lived in a luxury house at No. 115, Sir Kudarawaththa Road, Kandy. He had owned a business in Moneragala apart from the Wellampitiya factory. A BMW white-coloured car was found parked near the Dematagoda house and on inspection by police, water bottles containing a logo of Cinnamon Grand Hotel was found. Before organising the attack, it was thus clear that he had visited that hotel time to time.

Inshad Ahamad was someone who was born in Kandy area and has had his education in a popular school in Colombo. Inshaf Ahamad has not told his dead wife who died on 21st about this attack. It is also revealed that he had told that he was leaving to Zambia on a business matter and has gone to the airport on Friday, escorted by his wife. Whatever it is, about one hour before setting off the bomb he had phoned his wife around 7.30 on Sunday morning and has inquired how she was getting along. Police later have taken action to arrest 9 individuals of the copper factory in Colombo, Wellampitiya. It is understood that raw material containing what is identified by IS organisation as "Satan's mother" or Triacetone triperoxide mas been used in this suicide bombs. Inshaf has had methods of getting down raw material necessary for his copper activities and there is suspicion that he may have brought down explosive material too in the process.

12 Indian and Bangla Desh nationals of this factory who have still not been taken into custody have revealed further details about Inshaf Ahamad to foreign media. They have informed that Inshaf used to arrive every day at his business place and had leave the premises after remaining only about 20 minutes and would speak only with the manager. They have also mentioned that he did not appear to be a staunch devotee of the Islamic faith. The employees further said that he allowed no permission for anybody to take his photographs. They also said that they suspect that he may have received monies from a foreign terrorist organisation.

Inshaf has told a lie to his wife that he would be leaving overseas on 19th Friday. It is not clear as to where he spent the day on 20th night. He has in fact registered with Cinnamon Grand Hotel on 20th night and has gone for breakfast at Taprobane restaurant on the ground floor of Cinnamon Grand Hotel on 21st morning and thus set off the bomb. Having concealed the bomb in a bag and entered the restaurant and then after serving a fruit dish and after consuming it has strayed a while, finally set off the bomb; targeting a place where a bigger number of people had gathered.

When the driver of the vehicle in which Inshaf came was questioned, police managed to get a clue about the Dematagoda house and when the Dematagoda house of his father was searched with the explosion taking place. His father, the spice businessman, Yoosuf Ibrahim and his brothers are presently under arrest. 13 male and female suspects have been arrested by Colombo Criminal Investigation Division in connection with the Dematagoda area explosion and 10 of them have been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
