What Nadeemal told police for 8 hours before being released -- how he avoided media and scooted away saying "mind your own business!"

Singer Amal Perera's son, Nadeemal Perera who was expelled from Dubai this morning (27) was detained for interrogation purposes by Criminal Investigation Department when he arrived in this country and was released around 3 in the afternoon and the prison officer who detained him, afterwards has handed him to Colombo Criminal Unit for further inquiry. 

Nadeemal who came on Fly Dubai flight this morning at 6.15 was subjected to questioning from 6.45 in the morning till 2.45 in the afternoon for almost 8 hours by Katunayaka police narcotics bureau
and only a part of what Nadeemal said on that occasion has been divulged by police spokesman. 

According to what Nadeemal has said, he has set off with his father Amal Perera last February 3rd from Sri Lanka to Dubai truly being aware that he was going to attend a party on an invitation of Makandure Madush. He has also said that he knew that he was leaving the country to Dubai to attend a party thrown by underground leader Makandure Madush before leaving and that he never imagined that they will be cornered there. He mentioned that his father, Amal Perera had told him here that the said party was that of Makandure Madush; but getting imprisoned with this crowd was something that he never anticipated. Whatever it is, he said that he did not use any narcotics at the party that day and because it was confirmed so from examinations there he has thought that he would be spared. He further said that accordingly Dubai officials took steps to expel him because he had not taken narcotics at the time he was taken into custody. 

24 year old Nadeemal Perera and 52 year old Lalith Kumara, prison officer arrived in this country on S - Z547 flight belonging to Fly Dubai aviation service and he further stated that after he was expelled he and Lalith Kumara has had no finances to come to Sri Lanka. However, he said that present wife of Makandure Madush has taken steps to look into the situation and had spent money and provided the flight tickets. 

After coming to the island, the criminal investigation department and officers of police narcotics bureau have interrogated Nadeemal Perera for a period of close upon 8 hours and he was finally released only around 3 in the afternoon. However, police have detained the prison officer Lalith Kumara further for purposes of questioning him. What Lalith has said has still not been divulged as such. 

When Nadeemal was being questioned for 8 hours inside a room in Katunayaka Airport, though news about it circulated across media within the country, having come to know that he had come, lawyer Shabdika who said that he went to Dubai on their behalf or Sohan or members of the family have not come to the airport to escort him while on the other hand two young men who are believed to be his friends has come to take him in a hired vehicle. 

Meanwhile, lawyer Udul Premarathna who spread various news that he went to Dubai for the sake of Nadeemal - Amal happened to engage in conversation with the aforesaid two friends in the afternoon hours. However, Nadeemal who came out has almost darted with his two friends as if ignoring him and has got into the vehicle and gone home. Though lawyer Udul has shouted out 'Nadeemal" ... he has ignored Udul and has walked away. 

Though media correspondents who were waiting outside airport premises for quite some time till Nadeemal came out and had hastened to pose questions of different sorts regarding the incident, Nadeemal has gone away avoiding their microphones saying, "Can't say anything at the moment; Mind your own business". 

After Nadeemal went away, lawyer Udul Premarathna has protested about Nadeemal being questioned and has retorted saying, "Why is he Salmon Khan that you'll go behind him and ask him questions ... his hands are clean ... he went because he was given money to sing ... that's all". 

Some of those who were arrested with Makandure Madush recently were removed from the detention camp in that country and expelled to Sri Lanka and in such a background a leading underground element who was apprehended with Madush known as Kanjipani Imran and three others too were expelled and they were taken into custody this morning (28) at Katunayaka, it is reported. 

Kanjipani Imran or Mohommed Najeem Imran was arrested on February 5th during a party at a hotel in Dubai together with underground leader Madush and is a leader of a criminal gang too. Police have informed that he had launched a strategy whereby he could flee before coming under the custody of officers of criminal investigation department in Katunayaka today. 

What police media spokesman Mr. Ruwan Gunasekera said was that Kanjipani has set up a plan to go to the Maldives after arriving in Katunayaka Airport this morning. Whatever it is, officers of criminal investigation department who got into quick action had swiftly taken him under their belt. He had arrived at Katunayaka Airport this morning at 6.20 from Dubai on the Fly Dubai flight LZ - 547 and had been remaining at transit passenger terminal in order to go to Maldives when officers of criminal investigation department have taken him into their custody. 

Three others who were deported from Dubai with Kanjipani were taken into custody by criminal investigation department at Katunayaka Airport. By now of the crowd of 31 who are under custody in Dubai, the number has come down to 26; but no official news have been received to say whether others have been expelled. 

Kanjipani Imran who is considered as the chief of Makandure Madush and is the person who is instrumental in getting down Madush to Dubai from Sri Lanka to operate the international drug network. Reports were published that he lived in the house adjoining the house of Madush.
