Operations launched where Aruni Baba and Thel Chooty were apprehended

An incident was reported 3 years before this in 2016 in the police division of Summit  pura, Mattakkuliya when Chooty Ukkun and 4 others were gunned down and 13 suspects linked to this incident were taken into custody those days. One such suspect so apprehended and imprisoned was Kudu Roshan of Mattakkuliya. While he was suspected to be directing the narcotics business from
inside prison, it was revealed that such operations were being carried out by his wife of 30 years in Summitpura by the name of Wijeysingha Aarachchige Niroshani alias Aruni Baba.

Special Task Force who today inspected houses in Ragama and Kadawatha where Aruni Baba takes refuge were able to find 3 grammes of heroin and over Rs. 10 lakhs in her possession. Two rented out houses belonging to her at Thalagolla, Ragama and Pahala Karagahamuna, Kadawatha were subjected to search by officers of police special task force and one suspect in one of those houses was taken into custody. He was of the age of 46 years and has been identified as Waduwawatthegedera Salinda Dharmasiri alias Thel Chooty living in Wellampitiya. Police have informed that 2 grammes of heroin, 100 milligrammes of ice and over Rs. 7 lakhs were found in his possession.
