Tarrant supposed to have bought weapons across internet -- refuses lawyers and appears alone for case -- grandmother begs forgiveness about blunder by son

Members of Brenton Tarrant's family have asked pardon on behalf of  Muslims who were massacred in Christchurch, New Zealand. Tarrant's grandfather and grandmother in Australia have expressed their ideas to the media about their son who is presently under remand in New Zealand.

"We were left speechless after hearing about this. Can't even imagine. We can ask nothing other than forgiveness", 81 year old grandmother, Mrs. Fitzgerald said. By now Tarrants mother and sister have been stationed in a house under Australian security and no opportunity has been provided for them to
come before the media.

According to the law of New Zealand, anybody who reaches the age of 18 years is permitted to secure a license for use of weapons. However, such licences are given to a person and not for weapons, it was reported. What was reported yesterday was that Tarrant has acquired weapons in New Zealand by making use of this law and that he has quite easily ordered those weapons across internet.

Prime minister Jacinda Arden has told media yesterday (18) that her cabinet has decided to revise laws pertaining to weapons within New Zealand. "10 days after this horrendous terrorist attack it will be possible to announce revised prices of new weapons in New Zealand. We believe that across such a process we will be able to afford a new leash of security to our society", she said.

The prime minister further remarked that a response in connection with problems in relation to matters not being reported to New Zealand Intelligence Units in advance regarding the main attack launched by Brenton Tarrant ... is anticipated. The two semi-automatic weapons, two auto-assault weapons and all other weapons utilised by the attacker come under the permitted list of New Zealand weaponry and he has purchased them across internet. According to the related law, semi-automatic weapons come under the first category of weapons that can be purchased. However, it has been limited to only seven bullets per round. Whatever it is, a large number of bullets are to be seen in the video when the assailant released his attack and therefore suspicions have emerged whether he has acquired these through some abnormal method.

In the meantime, organisers of the marketing outlet of weapons supposed to be the largest of its kind in New Zealand, the Auckland army exhibition, have taken steps to abandon it. They say that the risk that has cropped up in relation to weapons in the incident of massacre which took place in New Zealand was the reason for such a course of action.

The number of casualties in this attack by now has totalled 50 while another 40 are still taking treatment in hospital. Australian inquiries pertaining to Australian national Brenton who was responsible for the attack has already commenced. In this connection, several houses where he had been residing in has come under investigation. The next session of the court case pending in this connection has been postponed till the fifth of April. Photographs covered by media at the time he was taken into custody and manacled shows his gesture symbolising the sign "Okay" by widening his hands actually ame under discussion within the media. Brenton has even rejected an attorney at law who came forward on his behalf and has told court that he himself will appear on his behalf.
