They had in fact driven their vehicle disregarding traffic signals which at that time was flashing red colour and knocking the motor cycle of the police OIC. The police officer who was perplexed and had stopped the bike on the middle of the road and assuming that the motor bike would proceed non-stop the defender had swerved to the left with the hope of averting the bike was all recorded on CCTv video, thus finally knocking the OIC and being dragged away.
The two vehicles had then stopped and inquired as to what had happened to the knocked down victim. However, without making any attempt whatsoever to be of assistance to the injured victim and subsequently the manner in which the young boys had then followed a hit and run procedure is indeed amazing. The irresponsible mode of behaviour adopted by this youth whose fathers hold responsible positions in the country is indeed a matter of disgrace.
After all of them were taken into custody, of those who were on bail, five of the suspects were unable to provide bail and as a result they were directed to remand prison. Charges levelled against the suspect were, adopting a process of hit and run after being responsible to an accident by continuing to drive a defender jeep showing negligence to traffic signals and driving at excessive speed in a neglectful manner causing serious injury to a police officer who was on his way by motor bike on a duty necessity and a case of of attempted murder.

However, except for the girl Vishwabhashini Weerasingha (27) and two others, the other 5 not being able to meet bail conditions were directed to remand prison till 26th.
