Campus female student gives rose blossom at end of walk

Walk of campus students once or twice a week is something not new to Colombo city. The motive behind those walks to a large extent not important to most people either. Creating 'traffic' in Colombo is actually a victory for them. The end of the walk ending with bombardments of tear gas or water cannons happens to be the finale of the walk.

However, the media camera was focused yesterday upon a not too common in this familiar walk
because of a sentimental message at the end of the walk. It was the incident of a female undergraduate offering a rose blossom to a police officer who was obstructing her comrades.

The red rose in fact which symbolises sentiment was thus offered bringing to memory something sort of "though you hinder us ... we have no bad feelings". Whatever it is, the police officer did not accept it. Subsequently, another undergraduate closeby happened to force it on the said police officer ... but he dismissed it once more.

Though there are rare instances such as this where campus students of Sri Lanka offer flowers to police ... nevertheless instances of stones being hailed is of course common. Occasions where flowers are bestowed on security forces around the globe during protests had been reported on a number of instances. Some photos of such instances are published below
