Lasantha's daughter responds to revelation of Gotabhaya ... from Melbourne

Lasantha Wickramatunga's daughter, Ahimsa Wickramatunga has taken steps to respond with a reply to former secretary of defence, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who has revealed information pertaining to her father's murder across a weekend Sunday newspaper.

Presently she lives in Melbourne city, Australia and addressing Sri Lanka Sunday Observer newspaper, this is what she says: "I believe that the revelation he has made is true ... he may be aware
actually who it is who murdered my father. According to what he says ... I have no necessity to come and know about it from him ... because I am not from police, no.

He should expose everything that he knows to the C.I.D and by exposing suspects to the world he can contribute for a worthy cause. We left Sri Lanka and resided overseas because of the fear for our lives. There were no security facilities provided for us with about 200 security guards around us as such ... at that time. I think that according to this statement, the C.I.D. too will be able to search for further matters regarding this incident".

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa giving an interview to Sunday Aruna newspaper had said: "Actually, all these people know who killed Lasantha. Lasantha's daughter who is supposed to have written a commemorative letter on Lasantha too is aware of it. Lalith also knows about it. But nobody wants to go into it, to get some gain from Lasantha's murder. Lasantha's first wife, second wife, daughter, brother and Fredericka Janz who later became the editor ... all are abroad.

Even journalists who wrote to Lasantha's newspaper are living overseas. Only Lasantha's dead body is here. All these people know who the murderer is. But nobody is interested in carrying out an investigation. During their regime a good opportunity was available to conduct an inquiry and mete out punishment to the wrongdoer. But these people are beating about the bush. If Lasantha's daughter wishes ... ask her to come and meet me and thus find out who the killers are. I will tell what happened. But I have no evidence to prove in court. Even today investigations launched by us are at a standstill at the juncture where we stopped investigations. The reason for it is a police and judicial procedure".
