Galle Face Court cook's death ... a mystery  Burnt body tied to the bed!

Police have commenced a special investigation in connection with a mysterious death which has occured at Galle Face Court Housing Complex in Colpetty. 

The dead body of the deceased was was found on Saturday being tied to a bed in one of the rooms and he is serving as a cook in that housing complex and police say that he may have died as he was tied in that manner and burnt with burnt marks on the body. After investigations were made
subsequent to a telephone call received on 119 emergency unit after which Colombo Criminal Bureau and Colpetty Police started inquiries in this connection.  

This location which is known as Galle Face Court and is situated adjoining Colombo Galle Face grounds is a place where lodging facilities are provided for several foreign families at one and the same time. This place has been functioning for sometime and it is understood that a British couple and a Thai national had resided in the unit where this incident has taken place. 

The deceased aged 49 years has been employed there as a cook as well as a driver. He was a resident of Aranwela, Athurugiriya while his wife was living in Moratuwa, it is said. Until his burnt body was found inside a room tied to a bed, nobody was aware as to how this incident happened. 

After the incident was notified, police subjected that housing complex to an investigation and interrogated the residents. With the death, police suspect a person who was there and has now disappeared. That person had been serving as the driver of the British couple and has left that job because of some issue and the deceased had been given his service after that person has left. It is reported that by now he is unable to be traced and police have begun a search on that person.
