While final judgement is being delayed ...
special meeting by President at 7 tonight

11.30 pm -- Update
The President insisted at the special meeting held at the secretariat on Tuesday (11) night that whatever the Supreme Court turns out to be, he would take measures to safeguard the Mahinda Government.

This discussion lasted for over one and a half hours and member of parliament Arundika Fernando who came out after discussions said that the President has said that the only solution to the political issue that prevails at present is to go before the public and hold a general election. President
Maithripala Sirisena had told Mahinda and his colleagues that whatever judgement is taken by Supreme Court in respect of parliament being dissolved, he would go forward as one party. In the same way, if by chance the dissolution does not take place according to judgement of Supreme Court, the President has remarked that a stabilised government will be installed and that would be appointing commissions to check on fraud and corruption that has prevailed during the previous government. It was also discussed about the manner in which how they would contest as one alliance with Pohottuwa, the Hand and other parties.

3.30 pm -- Update
Today the 11th is the date which was promised by President on which the existent political crisis would be solved. In the meantime, the President has called for a special meeting and until such time the judgement is forthcoming from Supreme Court, it is seen that President is keeping his fingers crossed. In the meantime, the President has called for a special meeting tonight (11) to discuss matters with his SLFP faction and Mahinda Rajapaksa's Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna. On that occasion a political decision would be taken, political sources reports say.

The Supreme Court judgement had anticipated that it would be released last 7th, 8th or 10th after scrutinising the petitions forwarded to invalidate the gazette notification of President dissolving parliament, it has still not been announced today 11th, 3.30 pm. Under this situation there is a possibility that it could be delayed even further. In the process, the President's request from the attorney general to hasten the judgement has resulted in a counter attack yesterday with a motion being forwarded to the effect that this is an effort at making an influence on court.

In the meantime, Sri Lanka's British High Commissioner Mr. James Douris has released a Twitter message about this judgement saying that this would turn out to be an extra-special and rare judgement according to his experience as a former law student.
