SLFP in a struggle to creep into new government camp!

After Ranil Wickremasingha was sworn in as Prime Minister today, supporters of Sri Lanka Freedom Party are struggling to join hands with the new government of United National Front, political sources report.

In the instance when there is no coalition government, and when the strategic revolution set by President reaped no harvest, while still holding on to the chairman seat of SLFP how he can secure
seats under UNP poses the question as to what extent it is prudent, thus creating a problematic situation. However, there is news that those who discussed matters with President is supposed to have given consent in that matter.

The President has announced in the presence of those who wish to join the new government that they have the freedom to do so and that no disciplinary action will be taken against them, reports say. Under these circumstances it is now reported that among names of those who initially wished to join with UNP are Duminda Dissanayaka, Mahinda Samarasingha, Vijith Wijemuni de Soysa and Mahinda Amaraweera and and it is reported that members of parliament such as Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Weerakumara Dissanayaka, Angajan Ramanathan, Faizer Mustafa and Lakshman Seneviratna have been listed.

Though they have hoped to secure ministerial portfolios, under circumstances that the government coming into function tomorrow is not a coalition government, it is not possible to include a big number of ministerial posts as on the earlier occasion. According to the 19th amendment, the number of cabinet ministers would be 30 and the number of state and deputy ministers will be limited to 45.

A criticism has been launched that in future the group which has broken away from the Mahinda faction and are chosen by the government solely for the lust for power. Since there is no coalition government as before and because there is no necessity of the Alliance of the majority in parliament, some MPs of UNP have pointed out that such a big number should not be enlisted as ministers.
