Popular ruggerite Marco embraces death ...
As a result of an electric elevator of a night club in a high building down Navam Mawatha in Slave Island collapsing, a popular ruggerite has embraced death today. The deceased is known popularly known as Marco and is Kokila Samandaperuma from Battaramulla.
This tragic incident has occured when travelling up in the elevator to the night club known as 'Above' situated on 10th floor of Green Lanka Towers down Nawam Mawatha at 1.50 early this morning
(29). At the time the accident has taken place, three persons had been travelling in the elevator. It is learned that while travelling up this elevator has collapsed and that it had come down and struck the bottom floor with the persons inside.

Of the three who were injured, Kokila's condition was serious. He has passed away after being admitted to hospital. The other two also were admitted to Colombo National Hospital and one of them has gone home after treatment. Deceased Kokila happened to be a front line player representing CR & FC team and is the brother of the CR & FC rugger captain.
Kokila has also functioned as the captain of Colombo Wesley College in the year 2012 and was a popular player who represented the team that won the President's Award of 2013 and was well-known in the game of rugger. He was 24 years old at the time of his death and Kokila's body is to be taken to the address 157/1 Talangama North, Battaramulla.
