Foreign news reveal an incident of how a young man from Sri Lanka who has gone to South Korea for employment purposes had rescued the life of a Korean lady and was subjected to special appreciation.

Nima Bandara (38) hailing from Minipe, Hasalaka had gone to work in LG Company in Korea in 2013 and the period of his visa has expired in 2016. However, as he was not ready to abandon his job which brought him Von 5 lakhs, about (Rs. 80000) and return home, he had decided to remain there
even illegally. During this period, in February, 2017, a fire had broken out in a house in Orchard in the district of Goro-myeon where he was living and he was aware that a 90 year old lady was living in the house concerned and he has under the hypothesis of she would get caught in the fire and her life would be in danger ... this young man has rushed through the flames and had managed to rescue her, it is understood.

The life of this aged lady was saved in this incident while Nimal had received burnt injuries in the process. His wrist and head had suffered injuries. As he had inhaled toxic gas, his lungs have become weak and has had to take treatment for some months. For having thus saved the life of that Korean lady he was acclaimed by various forms of appreciation during that period. After a few months Nimal was subjected to an award of honour called "LG Honour" by the company for which he worked and a sum of Von Million 30 (Rs. 48 lakhs) in cash was bestowed on him.

Whatever it is, fine of Von 10 million which he owed that government for having remained illegally in Korea sans visa was dismissed by Daegu Emigration and Immigration office because of his heroic act and the Korean government took steps yesterday even to award him Korean citizenship.
