Calls deleted from Nimal Kumara's phone ... retrieved in Hong Kong
Namal Kumara has forwarded evidence of telephone calls about a conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence minister Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and in order to check further whether some of those calls were genuine or not, the data chip of Namal Kumara's Smart phone was sent by police to an institution called 'Data expert' in Hong Kong.
As such, several officers of Criminal Investigation Department had gone to Hong Kong a few days
back with the phone concerned and had requested asking for a report without delay and a special investigation was carried out on government expenses. In this connection the said institute has gone into all data in the phone and had informed that there were telephone messages deleted by Namal Kumara without forwarding them to media with a data storage with a capacity of 39 gigabytes.
Thus, they had supplied a methodology whereby it could be stored in a pendrive and in addition had supplied a data report running into 60 pages to officials of Criminal Investigations Department. When this case was heard today (19), the CID informed court that the said data report of the telephone sent for a special inquiry of Namal Kumara's phone was received by them. received y them. The judge then requested for the report concerned and the police responded saying that they will forward the reports to court during the course of the day today. Police also informed court that some parts of voice recordings forwarded by Namal Kumara have been deleted and that a host of new information was revealed after having retrieved those voice cuts.
