Sri Lankan youth in jail for 3 years suspected as having plotted to assassinate Maldives President ... released
Sri Lankan youth Lahiru Maduhushanka who has had to spend time in jail for the offence of having plotted to assassinate former President of Maldives President Abdullah Yameen has been released today (21).
This 27 year old Sri Lankan youth who was taken into custody on October 23rd in the year 2015 for having allegedly conspired to assassinate former Maldivian President Abdullah Yameen has been in
jail for over 3 years and after a court case heard today it was confirmed that he was not guilty for the offences concerned. Therefore, the court in that country has set him free.
It was also reported that his court case has not been heard from the month of September, 2016 and that there is an instance of violation of against fundamental rights. As there was no allegations against Lahiru Madhushanka, courts informed him that he would be released. After he was released, Lahiru who was in the company of Minister Faizer Mustafa addressing members of his home is seen in the photograph here.
