An incident is reported from Matugama of a student who was seriously injured in a road accident and was in a serious state but nevertheless appeared for the advanced level examination with great determination.

Havidu Shamika residing in Ovitigala, Matugama and a student of Matugama Ananda Satralaya was to sit for his advanced level examination this time. Last Friday evening the motor bicycle he was

riding met with an accident at Ovitigala Ritiketiya junction and having sustained severe injuries was admitted to Kalutara general hospital. He was in a serious condition because of injuries he faced on his head and hands.

However, Havidu's necessity was to appear for the advanced level exam the next day whatever his condition was. As such, on Saturday when the common exam was held, he was transported close to Ananda Sastralaya examination hall by his parents in a car and his condition was explained to the examination hall supervisor. Accordingly, the car carrying Havidu was brought close to the examination hall and he was provided the opportunity for permission to sit for the exam with continuous supervision of the invigilators concerned.

Havidu finally sat for the exam and after that he offered his thanks to the hall invigilators and attendant staff for having been kind enough to pay attention to his disability and provided him with an opportunity of sitting for this common examination.
