Case of arson of throwing kerosene oil on Passara shop ... killing 3 persons!
3 females embraced death as a result of poisonous and heated gas being inhaled in the fire that broke out in a three-floored trading centre situated in the town of Passara. It has been revealed by government analyst's report that the reason for the fire could be a case of arson.
Mr. Dhammika Weerasekera, Badulla Superintendent of Police said that the said report had been
forwarded to courts and that the investigations in this respect have been extended and that 4 police teams are engaged in investigations.
K.T. Mallika (62), K.B. Chitra (61) and T.H. Kalpana (23) passed away from the fire that broke out inside a building of 3 floors in the town of Passara towards dawn last June 14th. It has been revealed at preliminary police investigations that it was the mother, mother's younger sister and sister. It has further been revealed at investigations that the shop-owner had closed up the shop and had gone home locking the door from outside while the deceased were inside the said building as was the usual custom when the fire has broken out.
Police say that it was revealed at inquiries that those who died faced that tragedy because there had been no outlet for their safety as such. Steps have been taken to call for a report from the government analyst to ascertain the reason as to how the fire had broken out.
