"I was raped by Dhanushka and his friend in a hotel in Colpetty!" -- Norway girl has said
Sri Lankan cricketer Dhanushka Gunatilleka was subjected to being banned from matches as a result of violation of disciplinary rules and details pertaining to an incident understood as raping a young girl are further reported today. It is a 23 year old Norwegian girl who had come on a tour to Sri Lanka and faced this incident.
Before departing to her country yesterday 22nd she has lodged this complaint at Katunayaka Bandaranaika Airport about the incident she faced. What she had mentioned was that she was
stationed at a star hotel in Colpetty and that two young men whom she met in Sri Lanka had raped her. She has stated that ther eferred to incident had taken place towards midnight on Saturday 21st. When questioned whethr she could identify those who raped her, what she had said was that one of them she identified as Dhanushka Gunatilleka of the Sri Lankan Cricket team and the other person as a Sri Lankan who has obtained British citizenship.
According to her details this youth aged 2 years and a resident of Nawala was apprehended by police. Dhanushka Gunatilleka on the other hand has still not been taken into custody. After Sri Lanka Cricket authorities were informed of the incident, a preliminary inquiry was conducted regarding Dhanushka and it was proved that he had gone out on Saturday from where he stayed, in the night. According to laws in force related to Cricket in Sri Lanka, it is prohibited from going here and there after 10 in the night in this manner without prior permission. The Cricket institution has informed that he would have to face a disciplinary inquiry.
Matters are to be considered about suspension of match fees after the Test match in operation these days and he would have to forego taking part in the next match. It is also understood that a ban would be imposed on him for Cricket matches for a one year period in case the said incident is confirmed. Police on the other hand have informed that after surveying evidence related to the incident a full inquiry would be held in connection with the harassment the foreign lady underwent.
