Sri Lanka Cricket suspends Dhanushka Gunatilleka linked to abuse incident!
With Sri Lankan cricketer Dhanushka Gunatilleka being connected to an anti-disciplinary incident of behaviour, Sri Lanka Cricket has taken action to face suspension of international matches while being engaged these days in the second Test match being played against South Africa. Though the reason for this suspension has not been clearly explained, what is revealed from unofficial sources
is that he was involved in an incident where he and a friend of his had abused a female during night hours.
Katunayaka Airport Police say an incident of abuse has been recorded with them by two foreign young girls in which names of Dhanushka Gunatilleka and another young man was mentioned. According to the complaint Dhanushka's friend who had joined in committing this offence was taken into police custody and after a lengthy interrogation, it was revealed that Dhanushka Gunatilleka has been a participant in this offence.
According to Cricket disciplinary rules, though it is compulsory to be present to one's lodging-place by 10 o'clock in the night, Dhanushka has not turned up that night on the day of this incident, it had been found by Sri Lanka Cricket. Thus Dhanushka too would be taken into custody as having been accused of abusing a female and a separate inquiry would be conducted in respect of disciplinary matters by Sri Lanka Cricket, it is reported. The match suspension imposed on him would take effect after this match in progress while the match fee due to Dhanushka would be paid or not for the second Test against South Africa will be decided upon after this match as mentioned in the announcement made by Sri Lanka Cricket.
