Entire Peradeniya campus closed down for 2 months ... because of 4 students whose attendance is weak

University of Peradeniya has been closed down for a period of 2 months. The reason for it according to what the administration said was that the students were remaining back in the administration building, by force. As such, the administration would be informing the students to shift from the campus premises and hostels by evening six o'clock. 

What Engineering students ask the administration is to give the opportunity for the four students who

have not completed their attendance to sit for the examination. Though what was at the base of of the demands was student control and educational factors as well as welfare activities not being carried out properly; later on the genuine reason for protesting emerged.

After heads of the Engineering faculty informed that since those 4 students had not completed the eighty percent, they are not permitted to sit for the exam after which the Engineering student societies began protesting and had stayed back in the office and behaved in an unruly manner by disrupting proceedings in the entire university which resulted in having to go into this decision. This protest continued from the month of July upto now.
