Croc drags British newsman away but has not eaten his body ... dies only by drowning!

The dead body of 24 year old news correspondent British national Paul Macklin who was preyed upon by a crocodile at a lagoon close to Arugam Bay recently and an autopsy was conducted on the dead body. The cause of death was revealed as death from axphyxia resulting in drowning.

Mr. A. Ilankowan, Judicial Medical Officer of
Amparai General Hospital mentioned at the postmortem that wounds have been detected on the left leg as a result of the crocodile dragging the body but that those wounds could not cause death. It was reported by a person near the lagoon that at the moment of this tragedy Paul had had lifted one of his arms when under the water calling for help and that after that since he disappeared in the waters it was not possible for him to take any action as such. The corpse was found the next day. There had been no other places of signs on the body as having been bitten by the crocodile.

This tragedy has occured in Crocodile Rock area in Amparai, Paanama. Later, on the morning of last 15th the police and the navy force were able to find Paul Macklin's body and the postmortem was held at Amparai General Hospital after which the body was handed over to a representative of the British High Commission. The other group of foreigners who accompanied Paul attended the occasion.
