A newcomer tiger which leaps at glass-covering in Dehiwala Zoo!

After the night safari system was introduced to keep Dehiwala Zoo kept open during night-time too, action to import animals from foreign countries is taking place at a rapid pace.

Under this programme, a tiger which has been

placed in a newly-built cage could be seen by someone visiting the Dehiwala Zoo. So far the viewers were able to see this tiger while enclosed in a precipice-like enclosure and could be seen only from a distance; but it has now been brought to a new cage enclosed by a glass-covering.

After being shifted to his new environment with glass-covering, the animal could be viewed at close quarters and it is seen jumping at the glass, it has been observed. Shown below is a video where such an instance was captured on tape.
