Lelum made a statement yesterday that his father did not teach him anything about music; that he was not introduced to anybody in that field, that he learned music in secret amidst taboos and became a drummer. But 2 years before this he had appeared before a Rupavahini channel and has told a different story in the presence of his father and brother. What he says on that occasion is that what brought him to the position that he is now in is scholarly association with the Arts and the education

he and his brother had been bestowed from his childhood with his father taking a prominent stand in that context.

He also added that at the age of 4 and a half years when he tried to get on top of a Serpina and sing, he was given the first lesson of respecting musical instruments by his father and that he was involved in singing on a number of occasions at a later stage from the connections his father had.
