Sri Lanka grabs victory from Australia because of Guneratne!
Sri Lanka was able to secure a victory in the Twenty 20 cricket match played between Sri Lanka and Australia at Geelong's Kardinia Park playground, Australia today the 19th.
When Sri Lanka came in to bat to play the decisive innings in the presence of the challenge posed them to collect a total of 173 runs, the top order collapsed and ultimately the Sri Lankans
were faced with the task of collecting 59 runs in the final 5 overs of the game. On this occasion Asela Guneratne who became the Hero of the Match played prior to this once again played a heroic and speedy innings and managed to take reigns of the game into his hands steering the Sri Lankans to an unforeseen victory.
In the 19th over he struck 3 consecutive sixes and in the final over struck 2 fours and skied a six too. Instead of the 2 runs required for the win from the last ball he went on to hammer a boundary, thus etching Sri Lanka on the winner's list. When the game thus came to a close Asela was unbeaten on 84 scored from just 46 balls. He also bagged a wicket in today's game against the Aussies. As such, Sri Lanka could boast of having won the Twenty 20 match series which comprised of 3 matches.
