Assailants of Ambalangoda triple murder arrested -- murder supposed to have been committed because of misdirected information!

Ambalangoda Police have been smart enough to corner the suspects responsible for the triple murder of husband, wife and 4 year old child of the same
family last December at Idanthota area in Ambalangoda.

The said murder has been carried out by a hired underground gang on misdirected information. This gang supposed to be members of the gang of Podi Lassie the latter of whom was found guilty of the murder of Manoj Mendis, Chairman of Ratgama urban council. This clique is also a group involved in drug-trafficking on a large scale. When pursuing a clue about the triple murder, the deceased businessman husband had provided information about another murder last October and as a consequence he had been in the bad books of murder-gangs, it was learned. In fact he has had threats for having provided evidence secured from CCTV data at his shop which promoted the police in cornering a murder committed by clubbing a certain person. The deceased businessman also happened to be a member of Civil Security Committee and information was revealed that he had tarnished his name against criminals over various matters.

Whatever it is, a soldier who presently is in remand had supplied incorrect information which subsequently came to be known by the killers only after the murder had already been committed. When wide publicity was flashed across the media, the killers had fled the area. It was for this reason that the police encountered a delay in apprehending the genuine killers though various suspects were arrested from time to time in the process. An uncle of Podi Lassie alias Janith Madusanka was apprehended by police last January in Pereliya area in Hikkaduwa when the suspect had been travelling in a suspicious manner in a three-wheeler. Further investigations revealed information that the persons responsible for the triple murder had been transported in this same vehicle. According to information extracted by this suspect about other suspects, investigations had been launched and in the process Ambalangoda Police were successful in getting hold of its main suspect and the second when the two of them were on their way in a luxury vehicle to commit yet another murder. They had confessed and admitted that they had killed the entire family of the businessman but that it was ultimately an act in vain which had resulted over a mistaken piece of direction.
